🕷️ How to Submit a Tick for Testing with Ticknology

If you’ve just removed a tick and want it tested, Ticknology makes the process fast, simple, and accurate. Follow these step-by-step instructions to safely package, order, and ship your tick for testing.

Step 1: Store the Tick Correctly

  • Place the tick in a clean, dry Ziploc bag and seal it.

  • If the tick is alive, double-bag it.

  • Keep it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to mail.

  • 🚫 Do NOT add moisture (no damp paper towel).

  • 🚫 Do NOT wrap in tissue, paper. If it's in tape- just place it a the dry bag and proceed to step 2.

  • 🚫 Do NOT mail ticks suspended in liquid alcohol.

    • If your tick is already in alcohol, it can still be tested, but remove it from liquid before mailing.

Step 2: Place Your Order

  • Go to our Order Test page.

  • Select your test (our Universal Tick Test is the most popular).

  • Complete checkout and note your order number (you’ll also receive it by email).

Step 3: Label and Ship

  • Write your order number and specimen name clearly on the bag.

  • Place the bag inside a reinforced and/or padded envelope (small boxes are also acceptable).

  • Ship to:
